We Prevent Running Out of Propane & Empty Tanks

How to Read Your Propane Tank Gauge

Tank Gauges - Your guage on your tank will be one of these pictured below:

Guages read from "10" - "80", 80 being 80% means that the tank is full. 20% and below is "The Red Zone" - The tank can be only be filled to 80% to allow for heat expansion.

Thera are 91,500 BTU's in one gallon of propane.  For example, a central heating system at 100,000 BTU rating will burn a little more than a gallon per hour when running on high.

Use this chart in order to help yourself know how low you can go:

This chart refers to various sized tanks in their gallon capacities.  The chart reads % filled in relationship to gallons remaining for propane tanks.
